August 10th 2002 HLG Contest Results

Here it is, hot off the presses! the Seattle Area Soaring Society's 4th contest of the year was completed this Saturday. Once again, great weather greeted the contestants as they straggled in for the contest. We had a couple of special guests, one, all the way from Japan, Toshiro Saruwatari was in town on business and we werelucky enough to have him fly with us! Also visiting, but not able to fly, was Herb Smith from California!

The winds were light, but would come up to speed as thermals moved across the field. There always seemed to be a thermal somewhere in range of the field, except for the 5th round, where a lot of pilots came back to the pits grumbling. We ended up flying 6 rounds, and finished with a round of door prizes donated by Thermal-Gromit Works. (see final results at the end of this email)
